Adult Mental Health First Aid (Osage Beach)

  10/11/2019 8:00 AM (CDT)

Sometimes first aid isn’t a bandage or CPR or calling 911. Sometimes first aid is YOU.

You are more likely to encounter someone in an emotional or mental crisis than someone having a heart attack. Learn how to help at Adult Mental Health First Aid. This training teaches participants how to recognize signs of substance abuse and mental illness, including anxiety, depression, eating disorders and disorders involving psychosis. Participants also learn how to provide initial support and connect individuals to appropriate care.

Adult Mental Health First Aid is designed for employers, police officers, health care workers, first responders, faith leaders and other caring citizens. Participants must be at least 18 years old.

Amy Bartels, a human development and family science field specialist from MU Extension in Camden County, will lead the class.

The cost for each training is $25 and includes lunch. Registration is required. To register, call MU Extension at 573.346.2644.
