Alleged pharmacy robber who turned the gun on himself identified as Macks Creek man

Camdenton Police have now named the man who shot himself, one day after allegedly stealing prescription pills at gunpoint from a local pharmacy.

Clayton Phillips, 28, of Macks Creek, is currently at a Columbia hospital, with critical injuries.

Police say it was Sunday when Phillips jumped the counter of a Camdenton grocery-store pharmacy, stealing hundreds of pills.  Tips lead them to Phillips’ house, Monday night.  When they attempted to serve a search warrant, they heard a gunshot, then later found Phillips inside with a singl- gunshot wound to the head.
