Arrest made in fatal Franklin County pedestrian hit and run

The Missouri State Highway Patrol announced a passenger side mirror was broken off and found at the crash scene.  Investigators were able to link the mirror to James Sitze.

A Franklin County man is arrested for leaving the scene of a fatal hit and run.

James Sitze, 21, of Washington, was taken into custody Sunday night for leaving the scene of an accident that resulted in the death of another.

The accident happened early Sunday morning in Villa Ridge.  The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports Jason Gilley, 56, of Villa Ridge, was walking along Highway 100 when he was hit by an unknown driver.  Gilley died at the scene.

The patrol found a passenger side mirror at the scene which they were later able to link to Sitze.  He was taken into custody about eight hours after the accident.
