A Boone County man is facing multiple charges for a shooting incident last weekend.
Jimmy Bittle III, 35, of Ashland was charged Tuesday with burglary, assault, armed criminal action, unlawful possession of a firearm, and unlawful use of a weapon.
The charges stem from an incident Saturday night in Hartburg. Court documents state Bittle was visiting a home there when he got into an argument. Victims told deputies Bittle left the home, but returned later with a shotgun. They say he entered the home and confronted the person he’d been arguing with earlier. He allegedly fired a shot, missing the victim, but the bullet entered an adjoining bedroom, grazing a person in that room. That victim was struck in the side of the head. There’s no word on the severity of their injuries.
Bittle told deputies it was the other person who had the shotgun and it went off accidentally as the pair fought to take control of the gun.
