A Callaway County man is headed to prison after pleading guilty to robbing a neighbor’s barn.
Jeremy Smith, 33, of Auxvasse, pleaded guilty Monday to tampering with a motor vehicle, receiving stolen property, unlawful possession of a firearm, and marijuana possession. He was sentenced to a total of seven years.
Smith was arrested in the Summer of 2017 after a man found him stealing items from his barn. The barn was located on property just west of Auxvasse.
Smith initially fled the scene, but the victim was able to write down his license plate and vehicle information.
At the time of Smith’s arrest, an alleged accomplice was also arrested. However, charges were never filed against that man.
