It’s full speed ahead for face to face learning in the Blair Oaks school district…at least for now. Last night, a group of school parents and staff got together to go over plans to reopen the schools in the rural district just outside of Jefferson City. Facemasks will be optional, social distancing will be closely observed…hand washing and surface sanitizing will be stressed…and all virtual learning will be optional. District Superintendent Jim Jones says his staff will be ready.
Jones says his staff is anxious and maybe nervoous about the first day of school, but he says that's how he knows they're ready. He says when you are nervous, you focus more on the fine details of your job.
Jones says the district recently finished summer school classes, where the district hosted 400 students on campus without incident. First day of school in the 12-hundred-40 student district is set for Monday August 24. The school district board of education will vote on district procedures at its Monday night meeting.
