Boone County Covid infection rates continue drop

The downward trend in new Covid-19 cases in Boone County continues.

The health department reporting 43 new cases of the virus…that’s the fewest in one day since August 24th when there were 31 new cases. That was the ffirst day of classes at the University of Missouri. The number of active cases continues to drop as well. The Boone County health department now reporting 638 active cases of the virus.

On the University of Missouri campus, the number of active cases has decreased by 175 from last Friday’s figures. The Mizzou Covid dashboard now reporting 387 students have a case of the Covid-19 virus. That’s 2 percent of the student population. Lincoln University now reporting just one active case on campus…with ten students quarantined.

The state of Missouri reporting 1332 new cases of the virus on Monday, with  nine new deaths. Hospitalizations in the state are now at some the highest they  have been since the start of the pandemic. The Missouri Hospital Association reporting 1,010 people in hospitals around the state with the virus. That’s second only to last Wednesday’s census of 1,040.
