Boone County woman charged with abducting daughter then hiding in North Carolina pleads guilty

Jillanne Pagano

UPDATE:  All charges were dropped against Pagano's sister, Julianna Pagano, on April 6, 2021.  However, Pagano's mother is scheduled for a court hearing April 26, 2021.  She's charged with hindering prosecution.

A Boone County woman accused of abducting her child then hiding out in North Carolina for three years pleads down to a lesser charge.

Jillanne Pagano, 27, of Rocheport, pleaded guilty last Friday to endangering the welfare of a child.  She was sentenced to two years supervised probation.

Pagano was arrested in the summer of 2019 after police in North Carolina received a tip that she was hiding out there with her six-year-old daughter.  The father had been granted sole custody before the pair disappeared.

Pagano’s mother and sister still await court dates for their part in covering up the crime.
