Boone Hospital nixes visitors in attempt to stop spread of COVID-19

Boone Hospital Center in Columbia will no longer allow visitors in an attempt to protect patients and hospital employees from the spread of COVID-19.

The hospital made the announcement Sunday, saying the policy becomes effective Monday, March 23.

Visitors will be allowed under special circumstances, such as end-of-life, nursery and neonatal intensive care, and pediatric patients.  However, if you qualify for an exception you will be subject to a screening process.

The hospital also reports no children under the age of 16 will be allowed except in extreme circumstances.  And visitors who meet certain criteria that indicate they could be carriers of COVID-19 will not be allowed under any circumstances.
