A Jefferson City man is in police custody after a Callaway County K9 officer uncovers $10,000 worth of drugs.
Sean Kennard, 29, is facing multiple charges, including drug trafficking and resisting arrest. He’s currently being held without bond.
It was just before noon Tuesday when a Callaway County sheriff’s deputy attempted to stop Kennard in Kingdom City for a traffic violation. But Kennard refused to pull over and sped off on Highway 54. He eventually crashed and rolled his vehicle down a steep embankment near the Fulton city limits.
Kennard attempted to run from the scene, but the sheriff’s department reports that when Kennard spotted K9 Iro in pursuit, he surrendered.
Officers report they uncovered a large amount of cocaine, Ecstasy, and marijuana in Kennard’s vehicle.
Kennard’s passenger, Johnnie Sims, 43, of Jefferson City, was injured in the crash. There’s no word on the severity of his injuries, but he was taken to a Columbia hospital for treatment.
