Camden Co man on trial for savagely beating wife

A Camden County man is on trial this week for beating his wife so severely three years ago that she experienced facial fractures and bleeding on the brain.

Clarence Porter, 56, of Linn Creek, is charged with first-degree domestic assault resulting in serious injuries.  If convicted, he faces up to 30 years in prison.

It was in December of 2016 when Porter allegedly beat the victim as the pair drove from Iberia to their mobile home in Linn Creek.  Officers who responded to the scene, said that when they arrived, the victim was covered in large amounts of blood, her eyes were swollen shut, and her lips were cut and swollen.

KRMS reports the victim took the stand yesterday, testifying that during the car ride, Porter beat and choked her so severely that she blacked out.

Both medical professionals and law enforcement are expected to testify today.
