A Boone County police officer is facing federal charges after he's arrested during an undercover, child sex-crime investigation.
Clint Baer, 41, was charged yesterday with using interstate commerce for the purpose of engaging in illicit sexual conduct with a minor.
According to court reports, Baer had been engaging in correspondence with who he thought was the mother of a 14-year-old girl. In reality, he was talking with an employee of the FBI.
Baer traveled to Wentzville Monday to meet the alleged woman and her daughter for sex. After the initial contact, he was arrested.
Baer had worked for the Centralia Police Department for the past two years. The department reports Baer has been relieved of his duties.
