Cole County authorities find their person of interest in an apparent four-year-old homicide.
The Cole County Sheriff's Department confirms Sandy Gallaspie, 59, was arrested Saturday in connection to an ongoing human remains investigation.
The development came after the department announced it was offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest of Gallaspie.
Investigators found the remains, which haven't been identified, after a prison inmate told them he helped Gallaspie dispose of the body. Courts documents state Gallaspie shot the victim and dragged him from a car driven by Suzanne Ponder-Williams.
Prosecutors charged Ponder-Williams with abandonment of a corpse last week.
