The Columbia/Boone County health department extends its public health order through next month.
Director Stephanie Browning announced on Thursday that the extension is identical to the seven previous orders. The latest order is scheduled to expire one minute before midnight on February 16.
Browning says while the number of new COVID-19 cases in Boone County is stable, it remains high and is putting a strain on local resources. Boone County hospitals remain at ‘yellow’ status, meaning non-emergency procedures may be delayed.
As of Wednesday, there were 120 people in Boone County hospitalized who are COVID-19 positive; 28 of those are in the ICU and 14 are on ventilators.
