Columbia chiropractor formally charged with sexual abuse

Brooks Travis

A Columbia chiropractor is charged with sexual abuse.

Brooks Travis, 45, of Columbia, was formally charged Tuesday with one count of second-degree sexual abuse.  Court records indicate the incident happened Sunday.  No additional information has been released.

Travis has owned Lordex Spine Center of Columbia for the past 20 years.  He had also served as an assistant wrestling coach at Tolton Catholic High School, but has since been relieved of those duties.

Police haven’t clarified where the abuse occurred, but the Jefferson City Diocese says it was not on school property an involved neither students nor employees of the school.
