A Columbia man who was in a car that led police on a chase about 14 months ago has pleaded guilty in federal court to being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Justin Ewing, 30, entered his guilty plea Tuesday. He faces up to 10 years in a federal prison.
Ewing and his co-defendant, Justin Gerlach of Harrisburg, led police on a chase in Dec. 2017.
Gerlach, who was wanted on arrest warrants, sped off when he saw police approaching his car at the Days Inn Motel on I-70 Drive Southwest. However, he ultimately ended up crashing into an electric pole.
A search of their vehicle led police to discover that Ewing was in possession of a loaded handgun that had been reported stolen. He has several prior felony convictions and is prohibited from possessing a gun.
Gerlach pleaded guilty last fall to his charges. He also faces 10 years in prison.
Sentencing hearings for both men haven't yet been set.
