A Columbia man is sentenced to prison for his involvement in a shooting outside a Columbia Walmart.
Dequan Hughes, 22, was sentenced to three years in prison yesterday. He was convicted of assault and armed criminal action last month.
The shooting happened in May outside the Walmart on West Broadway. Two groups of men were shooting each other in the parking lot, and continued to exchange gunfire outside the Hy-Vee gas station across the street. No injuries were reported.
Four other men face charges in that shooting. They are DeAngelo Hughes, 21, Mariquan Midgyett, 23, Shaquail Midgyett, 20 and Gerrod Taylor, 20.
