A Columbia man is seriously injured after being thrown from his moped in a crash north of his hometown. The Missouri State Highway Patrol says William Barnhart, 66, was riding his moped on Highway 63, north of Calvert Hill Road, last night. Troopers say an SUV began to overtake Barnhart, who switched lanes. The Patrol says the SUV hit the moped, causing it to overturn and eject Barnhart.
Barnhart was taken to University Hospital in Columbia for his injuries. The driver of the SUV, Raymond Wood, 53, of Clarence, wasn’t injured.
