Columbia woman now facing murder charge for brutal assault last week

Elizabeth Dye

One of the two people arrested last week for a brutal assault of a Columbia woman is now facing a murder charge.

Elizabeth Dye, 25, of Columbia, was originally charged with assault, armed criminal action, and robbery for attacking 33-year-old Maya “Nicki” Wootton last Monday.  Three days later, Wootton died from her injuries prompting prosecutors to change Dye’s assault charge to first-degree murder.

It’s unclear whether Dye’s alleged accomplice, Lucas Harper, 34, will face stiffer charges.
