Court records shed more light on what preceded a fatal shooting in Benton County last week.
Jason Kroenke, 25, of Warsaw, is charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in the death of Tarah McIntyre, 27.
According to court documents, Kroenke and McIntyre lived together in the Bent Tree Harbor subdivision. It was last Tuesday when deputies were called to their home to investigate a suicide. Kroenke told investigators he’d been smoking methamphetamine when McIntyre accused him of cheating. He says she threatened to kill herself with his handgun. He contends she then shot herself in the head.
But investigators say Kroenke’s statements are inconsistent with the crime scene. They say they found McIntyre laying on the floor dead with a gunshot wound to her neck. The responding officer says the blood patterns at the scene indicate McIntyre was laying on the floor when she was shot. A pillow had also been used to help silence the gunshot.
Kroenke had his first court appearance Tuesday and pleaded not guilty. He’s currently being held without bond.
