Elderly Rolla couple saved from house fire by alert neighbors

Neighbors on Friday saved an older couple from a house fire on Miles Street in the College Hills neighborhood.

Neighbors rescue an elderly couple from a house fire just east of Rolla.

The Phelps County Focus reports kids were waiting for the school bus on Friday morning when they noticed the fire at a house in the College Hills subdivision and ran back home to tell their father.  Three neighbors rushed inside and found the man confused and the woman on the floor.  They carried her outside, then went back in for the man. 

The home sustained heavy damage.  The cause remains under investigation.
