A Camden County man’s fatal drunk driving case will proceed to trial.
Kevin Kennedy, 21, of Montreal will stand trial January 27th in the death of 24-year-old Brittany Barfield of Edwards.
Kennedy was driving a minivan just east of Climax Springs in July 2018 when he allegedly crossed the centerline of Route Z and hit an oncoming SUV. Barfield was a passenger in that vehicle. Three children in Kennedy’s van suffered injuries.
Kennedy is charged with driving while intoxicated resulting in the death of another, possession of a controlled substance, failure to drive on the right half of the road, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, operating a vehicle while failing to maintain financial responsibility, and not using a safety belt.
Kennedy eluded police for about eight months after the accident, until he was taken into custody.
