A former Callaway County educator avoids jail time for engaging in inappropriate contact with a student.
DaVonte Kyles, 24, of Columbia, pleaded down to attempted sexual contact with a student Monday and was sentenced to two years supervised probation.
Kyles was charged in April while working as a substitute teacher for the North Callaway School District.
The charge against Kyles surfaced after a female student under the age of 15 told authorities that she and Kyles began texting each other. But she told police the text eventually became sexually aggressive when Kyles invited her to sneak off with him to the school's weight room.
