Full federal appeals court to take up Missouri's sweeping abortion law

A full federal appeals court decides to rehear a case on Missouri’s sweeping abortion law.

The full U.S. 8th Circuit Court of Appeals decided to take the case up on its own motion.  Last month, a three-judge panel of the court agreed to uphold an injunction prohibiting the law from taking effect.  The 2019 law would ban abortions as early as eight weeks into a pregnancy and prohibit abortions based on a Down Syndrome diagnosis.

The Missouri Attorney General has asked the Supreme Court to take up the case.
