Highway Patrol: Slow down on the water at night

The boating accident on the Lake of the Ozarks Wednesday night helps reinforce some of the dangers of driving and riding on boats as the sun goes down.

Highway patrol spokesman Sergeant Scott White says navigating a boat in the dusk or in the dark can be very tricky.

White says every year, there are serious boat crashes after dark on the lake where boaters going too fast strike something in the water or run up on shore. He says remember the boats running lights are only for others to see you…and don’t provide a clear view of the water.
