Historical low water levels at the Lake of the Ozarks are causing severe damage to docks, boats, and boat lifts across the region.
The levels are low because Ameren was running the dam at full power to meet recent electric demands. But with boats and docks encased in ice, then the water levels drastically dropping beneath them, that’s taking a toll. Over the weekend, residents reported docks breaking loose in a number of coves, some seen floating downstream.
Officials recommend that you loosen your dock cables in order to let your dock have some room as the level remains low. And out-of-towners who own property at the Lake are urged to check on their docks.
