A Miller County woman has been charged with her husband's death.

Amy Murray, 40, of Iberia, was charged last week with first-degree murder, armed criminal action, arson, and tampering with physical evidence. She's currently being held on a $750,000 bond.

The murder took place in Dec. 2018 in Iberia. Investigators say Murray poisoned her husband, Joshua, with what's believed to be antifreeze before setting their house on fire.

Authorities say it appears the motive was love.

According to court records, Murray, who worked as a nurse at Jefferson City Correctional Center, was having an affair with an inmate.

Police have recorded phone conversations between Murray and Eugene Claypool, 40. The pair had discussed acquiring Claypool an attorney so he could shorten his prison sentence and the pair could be together.

Claypool is serving a life sentence for a brutal murder 18 years ago in Springfield. He and a friend robbed and murdered a 72-year-old invalid who had recently won nearly $2 million in the Missouri Lottery.
