If you’re interested in nature photography, the Runge Nature Center in Jefferson City is offering a free course that’s perfect for you.

Missouri Department of Conservation volunteer and local photographer Dan Bernskoetter is offering a free intro to nature photography course this Saturday, September 24.  He’ll share his tips and tricks for capturing the best outdoor photos with both a digital camera and smartphone.

Media Specialist Maddie Est says there’s a level of intricacy to taking nature photos.

"Nature isn't stationary.  A lot of the time, especially if you're photographing animals or insects, they're on the move.  And it's quite difficult to get them where the photos aren't going to be blurry or the lighting has to be right."

But Est says that shouldn’t be a deterrent for getting into nature photography.  She says Bernskoetter’s class can help.  Several of his photos have been featured in calendars published by Conservation.

The class runs from 10:00 a.m. to noon and is open to anyone 18 or older.  But you do have to register, and space is running out fast.  To register, go to https://short.mdc.mo.gov/4c7.
