Jane Doe cold case homicide investigation in AZ involved Missouri teen

DNA evidence taken from a 40-year-old Jane Doe cold case in Arizona leads investigators to Missouri.

ABC15 out of Arizona reports DNA samples recently taken from the body have now been linked to a family in the St. Louis area.  After detectives flew to St. Louis and met with the victim’s family, they were able to confirm the body was that of 17-year-old Carolyn Eaton who had run away several months before her body was found.

Eaton’s body was found on February 14, 1982 by an Arizona state trooper along I-40 near Flagstaff.  The case became known as “Valentine Sally”.

Arizona authorities say it was a grant from National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that helped them conduct the tests that led to her identity.
