JC man faces almost 100 years in jail for arson that injured firefighters

A Jefferson City man is arrested for an arson fire last Fall in Maries County that injured six firefighters.

Gary Travers, Jr., 36, was taken into custody Thursday in Jefferson City.  He’s been charged with six counts of second-degree assault against a special victim and one count of second-degree arson resulting in injuries.  He faces up to 95 years in prison.

It was last August when Vienna firemen were called to a house fire along Highway 28.  While fighting the fire, there was an explosion causing moderate to severe burns to six of the volunteer firefighters. 

Sheriff Chris Heitman says more arrests are possible.
