JC man faces charges related to young boy's injuries

Darrion Dowdy

A Jefferson City man is facing charges after the toddler he's babysitting ends up in the hospital with multiple injuries.

Darrion Dowdy, 26, was charged Saturday with child abuse, domestic assault, and endangering the welfare of a child.  All three charges involve serious injuries.

It was last Tuesday when the abuse allegedly occurred.  According to court records, a two-year-old boy had been left in Dowdy's care for several hours.  During that time, the boy suffered injuries to his head, face, chest, abdomen, and back.  Doctors later told police the child had bruises to his heart, liver, and pancreas as well as injuries to his spleen, intestines, and ribs.  Doctors say the injuries were caused by blunt force trauma.
