A Jefferson City man arrested last year for assaulting his elderly mother gets probation.
Matthew Johnson, 36, pled down to third-degree domestic assault last week and was sentenced to five years supervised probation. Johnson had originally been charged with first-degree domestic assault.
During his sentencing, he was also order to have no contact with his mother, attend anger management classes, and receive counseling for substance abuse.
It was in February of 2018 when Johnson went to his then 74-year-old mother's home, knocking her to the ground and dragging her across the floor. The woman suffered several fractured bones as a result of the assault.
