A Jefferson City prisoner has pleaded guilty to murdering his cellmate nearly five years ago.
Randy Teter, 38, entered his plea Tuesday to second-degree murder for the death of Mark Melton, 35.
Teter admitted to stomping on Melton's head and throat in August 2014, resulting in his death just days later.
Teter was already serving time for killing his father in Jackson County 20 years ago. Melton was serving a nine-year sentence for first-degree sodomy.
Online records show a sentencing hearing for Melton's murder will be held April 9.
