JCFD says: Be responsible with fireworks

We all should know that shooting fireworks inside the city limits of Jefferson City is against the law.

Fire Department division Chief Jason Turner says generally the first time they’re called to your house, you’ll get a lecture. The second time will likely result in a ticket.

Turner says you're likely to get a citation, which carries a fine. But parents need to take control of their children, andnot allow them to shoot fireworks inside the city lmits and closely supervise them if they do shoot fireworks in areas where it is legal.

Turner says if you do shoot off fireworks…be a good neighbor. Talk to those around you and make sure you’re not making a nuisance of yourself.
