Lake-area man wanted for violent carjacking arrested in Pulaski County

A Lake-area man wanted for a violent carjacking in Camden County is arrested.

Deputies with the Camden County Sheriff’s Office had been looking for Stephen Wachholtz, 43, since Thursday.  On Tuesday, they learned he may be hiding in Pulaski County.  They searched an area near Dixon and found Wachholtz in the 18000 block of Cliff Road.  He was taken into custody without incident

Authorities say a woman gave Wachholtz a ride after he was kicked out of a home in Eugene last week. Wachholtz allegedly slammed the woman’s head against the steering wheel, bit her on the hand, grabbed the keys and pushed her out of the car before driving off.

Wachholtz is currently being held on outstanding warrants.  The Camden County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office is reviewing charges against him in the carjacking case.
