A Jefferson City man has been charged after allegedly exposing himself to a child at a park on the east end of Jefferson City.
The Jefferson City Police Department says a parent contacted them to report that a man had entered the women’s bathroom at Riverside Park yesterday and exposed himself to a small child. He then fled the area in a black SUV.
Officers found the suspect at his home around 2:30 yesterday afternoon and arrested him. Shane Steck, 41, has been charged with one count of felony sexual misconduct involving a child.
Steck is a registered sex offender and police say he admitted to spending time at the park even though he’s not allowed within 500 feet of a park or swimming pool. Police say Steck also admitted to being in the bathroom with his genitals exposed and to fleeing the scene.
