Man surrenders to Columbia Police for rape in February

A man from southern Missouri surrenders to Columbia Police for allegedly committing a rape earlier this year.

Kristopher Roberson, 28, of Van Buren, turned himself in Tuesday.  He's been charged with first-degree rape and first-degree sodomy.

The Columbia Missourian reports it was in February when Roberson was in Columbia staying at a friend's house.  One evening while there, he allegedly went into one of the resident's bedrooms and sexually assaulted her.

The victim told police Roberson apologized after the assault, then left her home when she told him to leave.  She told police she found Roberson during the rape, but was scared because she knew he had a gun in his possession.
