Maries County residents asked to stop for school buses

The Maries County R-2 School District is urging drivers to stop for school buses.

The district says there have been several recent incidents of drivers refusing to stop for buses that are picking up or dropping off kids.

The district warns that anyone who drives past a bus with its stop arm extended will be reported to the Missouri State Highway Patrol and ticketed.

The Maries County Sheriff’s Office says it will also step up enforcement and ticket anyone who drives past a stopped bus.
