Mexico teen surrenders for fatal shooting Wednesday night

A Mexico teen surrenders to police for a fatal shooting earlier this week.

The Mexico Department of Public Safety reports Javone Hornbeak, 18, of Mexico, turned himself in late Thursday morning.  He’s currently facing charges of unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action.  Police say it’s possible Hornbeak will face additional charges.  And others could be charged as well.

It was Wednesday night when police were called to Tyronn Lue Boulevard to investigate a shooting.  When they arrived, they found 17-year-old Tornez Burton suffering from a single gunshot wound.  He later died from his injury.

A second teen, identified as Jzyesshawn Palmer, 17, also of Mexico, was shot in the leg.  He was transported by family to a Columbia hospital.  There’s no word on his current condition.

Witnesses told police four teens had been fighting, when one pulled out a gun and fired numerous rounds.

Police are asking anyone with further information about this investigation, to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-392-TIPS.
