MO River threatens JC

Flood of 1993

The Missouri River is rising fast and according to the latest from the National Weather Service, we are about to see some historic flooding; perhaps some of the worst of all time in Jefferson City.

With a predicted flood crest of nearly 33 feet this evening, portions of Jefferson City that rarely see flood waters will begin to flood.

The city is executing its flooding emergency plan.  For more details, you can reach the city flood plan at

If you live near areas that normally flood, take precautions, but also make yourself aware of areas that will flood that haven’t for quite some time.

By the way, we may not be out of the woods yet.  The National Weather Service is calling for overnight storms; some of which may be severe and drop a lot more water on this already saturated area.
