Name of new food bank coming to Columbia this fall announced

A new, larger food bank will be opening in Columbia this fall.

The Food Bank of Central and Northeast Missouri announced the name of its new food distribution location in Columbia Thursday.  The distribution center, which will open in the old Moser’s Foods location on the Business Loop, will be named the Food Bank Market.  It replaces the Central Pantry, which was located on Big Bear Boulevard.

The Food Bank Market will be three times the size of the Central Pantry and offer additional resources for housing, utility assistance, and more.  Compass Health Network will also be offering services at the building.

The Food Bank is looking to raise $7 million to complete the new project and has already raised 60% of its goal.  To make a donation, go to sharefoodbringhope.org
