New special prosecutor to be selected in manslaughter case of Columbia police officer

A new special prosecutor will be appointed in the case of a Columbia police officer charged in the death of a four-year-old girl.  Andria Heese is accused of killing Gabriella Curry by hitting her with a police car as the child was walking on a sidewalk outside of Battle High School.  Heese is charged with first degree manslaughter.

The Missouri Office of Prosecution will pick the new prosecutor and Boone County Judge Jeff Harris will have the final say.

The previous prosecutor, Heather Miller, has been appointed as a judge and can no longer prosecute the case.

Heese is due back in court March 22.
