One person dies and four others are wounded in an overnight shooting at an American Legion facility in southeast Missouri.
The call came in Saturday morning, about 12:30 a.m. that shots had been fired at the American Legion post in Kennett. When officers arrived, they found one man dead, two with critical injuries, and two additional victims were treated for unspecified injuries.
Numerous law enforcement agencies are working the homicide, including the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The Delta Dunklin Democrat reports the incident stemmed from individuals who had rented the building for a private party.
Kennett is a city of about 10,000, situated in Missouri’s bootheel, about 100 miles north of Memphis, TN.
