One of the two men accused of a grisly murder in Dallas County is denied bond.

A judge, on Friday, denied bond for James Phelps, 58, of Lebanon, who’s accused of the murder of Cassidy Rainwater.  He was originally charged with her kidnapping, but charges were upgraded this past week to include first-degree murder and abandonment of a corpse after her body was found on his property.

KOLR-Springfield reports Phelps’ attorneys had argued for bond, saying their client had lived in Dallas County his entire life and would live with family members.  But the prosecution successfully argued the charges alone made Phelps a flight risk and a danger.

Phelps’ alleged accomplice, Timothy Norton, has confessed to the murder.  KOLR reports he told authorities the pair would look for victims online as well as a nearby Walmart.
