It’s officially Christmas tree season and some folks in Jefferson City are getting an early start. The Optimist Club here in town sells fresh trees on Dunklin Street every year and spokesman Don Lewis says the Friday after Thanksgiving was very busy.
“That was our best day that we’ve ever had, selling trees, in 30-something years.”
Lewis says you can’t beat the smell of a real tree, and you can see over 100 of them on their lot at any given time. He says once you pick one out, they’ll cut the trunk so it’s a fresh cut, and then you should make sure to put it in water right away. He says if you keep the tree watered, and keep it away from heat vents and fireplaces, you should have a healthy-looking tree right up until January.
