Pettis Co inmate dies in custody, cause unknown

An investigation is underway at the Pettis County jail after a female inmate dies there, earlier today.

Modina Bradshaw, 44, of Sedalia, became unresponsive Saturday morning around 9:30.  Both deputies and EMT performed CPR but were unsuccessful.  An autopsy is scheduled for early next week.  Officials report they don’t suspect either foul play or suicide, saying Bradshaw had some medical issues when she was taken into custody.

Bradshaw had been in custody since Thursday when she was arrested on two counts of domestic assault and unlawful use of a weapon.  Police reports state Bradshaw had gone to a house on South Harding Avenue, and threatened people there with a knife.

Court records show Bradshaw made a court appearance by video, Friday morning, for her arraignment.  But the hearing had been moved back to this upcoming Tuesday.
