Salem man convicted of murder to go free

A Dent County man once convicted of murder will go free.

KOLR 10 in Springfield reports the Dent County prosecutor won’t retry Donald “Doc” Nash of Salem after the Missouri Supreme Court recently overturned Nash’s conviction. Nash has long held he did not murder his live in girlfriend in 1982.

Nash wasn’t convicted on murder charges in the death of Judy Lynn Spencer until 2009. Spencer was strangled with her shoelace and the then shot to death. The case was cold for more than 20 years until Dent County investigators reopened it and charged Nash with the killing.

The Dent County prosecutor Friday filed a motion to dismiss charges against Nash.
