Sedalia house fire starts in the kitchen, no injuries reported

A Sedalia house sustains considerable damage during a morning house fire.

The Sedalia Fire Department reports crews were called to a home near the intersection of W. 16th Street and S. Osage Avenue just before 7 a.m. on Monday.  By the time crews arrived, two occupants had made it outside safely, but firefighters had to rescue their dog.  No injuries were reported.

The fire was determined to be accidental in nature, originating in the area of the stove top.

The home sustained significant smoke damage throughout, with fire damage to around 50 percent of the home.
