Shots-fired incident in Columbia involved stolen vehicle, suspects still sought

Columbia Police continue to investigate reports of shots fired about a mile northeast of Shelter Gardens.

Officers were called to the area of W. Worley Street and Pershing Road Wednesday night around 8:30 p.m.  When officers searched the area, they found several shell casings.  A review of home surveillance footage from someone living in that area, showed a white Jeep SUV being followed by a small, dark-colored car.

Investigators later found the Jeep, riddled with bullet holes, at nearby Lake Broadway Townhomes.  They report the vehicle was reported stolen last Saturday.  Investigators are still searching for the car and possible suspects.

If you have information about this incident, you’re urged to call the Columbia PD or CrimeStoppers at 573-875-TIPS.
