Arrests continue for those involved in a weekend fight at the Capital Mall.
The latest arrest occurred Wednesday, involving 29-year-old Jernail Hickmon of Jefferson City. Police allege he’s the shooter they’ve been looking for.
It was Friday night when police were called to the mall parking lot to investigate a large disturbance involving gunfire. Previous reports indicated the gunman shot his gun in the air to break up a fight, but police say new video evidence shows Hickmon firing the gun at a vehicle.
Hickmon, a previously convicted felon who can’t have a gun, is awaiting charges in the Friday night incident. Police report when they took Hickmon into custody, they found a bullet-proof vest and a substantial amount of narcotics.
Four others have been arrested for their part in the fight; two juveniles and two adults.
Investigators say the disturbance involved a group of females assaulting a juvenile female.
When the victim’s mother learned of the fight, she went to two homes she believed were linked to those who assaulted her daughter, and threw Molotov cocktails through their windows. Iasha Cannady, 46, was charged Monday with two counts of first-degree arson.
Police previously stated they were still looking for a female known as “Big Lexi”. She’s suspected of taking part in the fight at the mall.
